4 Day Working Week Trial

Well, it’s safe to say the largest ever 4-day work week trial was an indisputable success,.

The results…

Overall:

👍 92% of businesses are continuing

Revenue:

📈 Up 1.4% on average over the trial period
💰 Up 35% on average compared to the previous year

Employee satisfaction:

🔄 57% decrease in staff turnover
😀 48% of staff more satisfied with their job than when the trial started

Wellbeing:

🔥 71% reported lower levels of burnout
😰 39% said they were less stressed
🤧 65% reduction in sick days
🏃‍♂️ 37% of employees reporting an increase in physical health

Work/life balance:

🏡 54% found it easier to balance work with family, social and household commitments
🤝 60% said that it was easier to balance work with care responsibilities

This doesn’t mean that it is or should be for everyone. It doesn’t work for every individual or business for a whole variety of reasons.

But what’s important here is the loud and clear message that people want more flexibility, balance, and control in their lives.

How each business does that and what each individual want is highly nuanced and subjective.

And we of course must balance the needs of individuals with the needs of a business that has to survive and/or grow.

But it’s clear that the conversation around flexibility is only going to get louder
